My name is Mel Tari, I am an evangelist and author of the book "Like a Mighty Wind."  Indonesia is my home country and I am personally organizing a response to the disaster there.  You can be assured that the funds you contribute to this ministry will make it directly to the people in need.

My sister who has been a pastor for over 20 years lives in North Sumatra (Lhoksemawe) about 200 miles from Banda Aceh. I talked to her and she said that many churches were destroyed and need urgent help from all of us.
I will personally be observing  first hand the devastating situation there. I will be praying and coordinating with the pastors there to see how we can help them in both the immediate and long term.
As you know Aceh is the most fanatic Moslem region in Indonesia. This is our best opportunity to show our love and bring help to the Moslems. I believe many will come to the Lord and let us pray that there will be a "Tsunami of the Holy Spirit" that will reach the millions whose hearts are tender and open to receive the gospel because of this great tragedy. I have set up a Tsunami Relief Fund for those who intend to help. Checks should be made payable to "World Mission" and are tax deductible.
